Guess what? My birthday is like my own personal holiday where I reign supreme. No matter what chaos is happening in the world, on that special day, it's all about the good vibes. I firmly believe birthdays are sacred and deserve to be celebrated in style. So, what do I do? Well, I treat myself, because hey, I'm a fashionista through and through. Usually, it's a chic new outfit or some fabulous accessories. Got these killer Ferragamo shoes last year, it was a splurge but so worth it.
This year, I decided to shake things up a bit. Why not go on a wild thrifting adventure in Paris for my birthday? Genius, right? Initially, it felt a bit odd because I was used to brand-new gifts, but I quickly tossed that notion out the window. And you know what? I hit the jackpot! I scored four wool blazers amongst other items, one of them for just one euro (yes, seriously!). It was like a fashion miracle, and my wardrobe got a major upgrade.
Thrift shopping is a lifestyle for many, and for me, it's like embarking on a treasure hunt. Let's be real, some thrift stores these days are full of questionable items, so finding quality pieces at a steal was beyond thrilling. Back in Nigeria, we called it "Bend down Select." As a kid, I had no clue about thrifting, but as a young adult, I was all in. I'd see people rummaging through those makeshift stalls, and I was always curious. Little did I know it was called "thrifting" until I hit up university in the US (hello, Christian Dior jacket find!). For me, it was like a fun scavenger hunt, sifting through marketplaces for hidden gems.
My Parisian thrift adventure reignited my love for thrifting, and now I'm hooked. Those thrift stores better hate to see me coming, as I'm on a mission to hunt down more treasures. Watch out, world!
